Course description

Understanding the fundamentals of survival requires an understanding of human behavior, stress management, and most importantly a connection with nature around you.

Developed for the avid outdoorsmen, the basic survival course will not only teach you valuable concepts and skills that can be applied when recreating in the outdoors, it will give you the knowledge to stay alive in a survival situation. Through designing a strategic survival template, students will learn how to stay alive in a short term survival situation. The Basic Survival Course will not only educate students with hard skills but will allow them to gain an understanding of the physical and psychological demands endured by the body during a life threatening event.

• Cutting tools to include use and limitations
• Understanding fire, components, application, and creation
• Shelter development, application, and construction techniques
• Navigation via terrain association
• Water: realities, gathering, and processing
• Rescue techniques and responses
• Skill development through scenarios and primary applied techniques

• Fixed Blade Knife
• Ferrocerium Rod
• Bic Lighter
• Stainless Steel Water Bottle
• 100’ Paracord
• All-purpose Tarp
• 6 Tent Pegs
• Headlamp with Spare Batteries
• Notepad and Pencil/Pen
• Backpack to fit above items

Additional Information

• This course is developed for indivduals 12 years of age and older
• Individuals under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
